Rushing along

Still working hard on wrapping up "Adventures...".  Every time I think I've got it another last minute thing springs to mind.  Basically I keep stepping back, reading the book and saying to myself "what will someone ask ?".  Each time I stumble across one thing or another that leads to inordinate amounts of work for a half page of text.  Still, I trust in the end it will all be worth it.  I've basically decided that, like the original "Liberators!" "Adventures" will never truly be finished.

Dealing with the printer and haggling to make the price do-able.  This is one area that has changed immensely since I published "Liberators!" in 2005; the rise of digital printing has not only made short run publications like "Adventures" much more feasible, the turnaround times are amazing.  They need 3-4 days for a standard job and less for a rush job.  It seemed like "Liberators!" took 3 months!  I don't mean that in any way negative towards the printer of "Liberators!", I was and am very happy with them and the work they did and would recommend them to anyone; it's just that the world keeps speeding up and turnaround times that would have been inconceivable just a few years ago are standard business practice today.  There's 2 sides to that coin, for sure...

As I've been rushing about getting ready for Cold Wars, with not enough time and too much to do, something came to light that just stopped me in my tracks.  Over on the Yahoo Group Francisco announced that his brother is coming all the way from Buenos Aires to attend the convention.  To say I'm flabbergasted....gobsmacked....Wile E. Coyote-eyeballs-and-jaw-rolling-around-on-the-ground amazed...would be putting it mildly.  It's difficult to state just how honored and amazed I am by this.  It is so cool to be developing a product for a period that you all enjoy so much that someone would actually fly halfway across the world to be part of an event involving it.  It's really wonderful and I just hope I remember to step back enough to enjoy the convention; meeting and hanging out with those of you who are attending.  If any of you see me stressed out and rushing around (as I am wont to do...just ask the band I tour manage!), drag me away for a beer!

Mike has casted up the new references for Cold Wars.  You'll be seeing British/Irish Legion, peasant dress infantry, Llanero cavarly and Venezuelan infantry.  In addition, you'll get first crack at the introduction of sergeants and captains for the British/Irish. Royalists and Venezuelans.  In time I'll go back and add them for the Argentina and Chile armies but for now, I hope you enjoy the additional figures.  The minute I get back from Cold Wars all of these new figures, plus the "Adventures..." book and a new rereleased hardcover version of the first Supplement, will be added to the website.

I'm looking forward to the next few months and I hope you're getting excited as well!
